Ep. 22: Raiju Inspects the Gem and Warns Aoi About His Past

The Toads present Hourai's Gem Branch, but Raiju refuses to authenticate it. Hideyoshi asks Aoi to cook for Raiju, yet Ginji sends the Twin chefs Mai and Kei instead. Raiju rejects their food. Aoi and Ginji discuss love; Aoi recalls feelings for a childhood Ayakashi but cannot remember details. Drunk, Aoi complains about Odanna’s marriage proposal. Raiju intimidates Aoi with lightning, triggering her phobia. He insults her cooking, stating he desires Aoi herself, and suggests Shiro arranged the marriage to protect her. After tricking Aoi into eating a sweet, Raiju admits his behavior stems from boredom since Shiro. Aoi flees to Ranmaru, who warns Raiju away. Ranmaru reveals Raiju ruined the ceremony 300 years ago. Aoi cooks extensively with help from Ginji, the twins, Ai, and Chibi for Ranmaru’s evaluation. Aoi faints and hears a dark warning.
