Ep. 40: Hajime investigates a murder at Tarot Villa after Reika Hayami invites guests to the snowy retreat

Hajime visits Reika Hayami at her father’s Tarot Villa in the snowy mountains, where she has isolated herself. Skier Kenji Tsuji arrives seeking shelter after the cable car stops operating. Inside, the group observes a framed tarot card display. Reporter Goro Itami recounts past cases involving child kidnappings and police errors. Itami attempts to extort money from Yuichiro Hayami and demands time with Reika. Hayami refuses, striking Itami with an ashtray and killing him before burying the body. The next morning, tarot cards are removed, and the Wheel of Fortune card appears on Itami’s door. Hajime interprets this as a clue pointing to Windmill Hill. The group travels there via cable car and discovers Itami’s body tied to the windmill. Upon returning, they find telephone lines cut and cable car controls destroyed. Hajime begins investigating while Hayami panics over the unknown perpetrator who moved the body and left the card.
