Sasami accepts Riki’s theory that a parallel world stems from another’s desire. Riki hides the situation from Kengo after noticing Rin’s absence and shares lunch with Sasami, who reveals her childhood pet cat. Riki suggests Sasami speak with Kengo to restore her normal state. The pair reveals the truth to Kengo, causing him to vanish instantly. They observe the streets outside the school gates becoming formless, indicating the world is fading. Since Sasami remains a cat, Riki advises her to stay close. Upon waking, Riki realizes the black cat Kuro created the world during its final moments. Riki convinces Sasami to communicate with Kuro’s spirit together, which finally manifests physically, bringing Sasami joy.
