Riki and Haruka encounter Kanata in the courtyard, where she dismisses them while rumors of her past abuse circulate among classmates. Haruka learns that Kanata plans to marry into the Saigusa family to protect her. Flashbacks reveal Kanata chose this path as a child to end Haruka’s suffering. After waking in the infirmary, Kanata expresses feelings of unworthiness, comparing herself to a cliff. Riki and Haruka promise never to abandon her before she is taken to the Futaki household. The Little Busters organize diversions to facilitate her escape, despite Kanata’s skepticism.
