A racing event for children aged 8 to 13 features Prince Jam, who looks like Spritle. Spritle is upset about being excluded because he will not turn 8 until two days after the race, a fact Pops reminds him of. Prince Jam and Spritle crash into each other while escaping a kidnapping scheme designed to place Prince Sugarin on the throne. This accident causes them to be confused for one another. During the competition, the conspirators attempt to eliminate the individual they believe to be Prince Jam. The incident stems from the plot to usurp the throne, leading to the mistaken identity that drives the conflict between the two boys and the antagonists.
