Ep. 8: Speed and Trixie escape the Mammoth Car drivers and confront Cruncher Block at his mining tunnel headquarters.

Believing Speed and Trixie dead in Lake Icy Chill, Mammoth Car drivers proceed with the race. Speed, having survived, uses his telescanner to observe their departure and sends a homing robot message to Inspector Detector. He suspects the stolen gold is on the vehicle. Cruncher Block spots the Mach 5 from his plane, and both Speed and Trixie are shot at during a refueling stop. They flee into a mining tunnel, riding a trolley that narrowly avoids crashing. Spritle and Chim Chim sneak out of Cruncher's airplane, entering the tunnel which serves as Cruncher's headquarters. Speed and Trixie are captured and tied to a trolley carrying three tons of dynamite. Racer X rescues them. At the checkpoint, Inspector Detector finds no gold on the Mammoth Car. Spritle and Chim Chim hide inside it. The Mach 5 and Mammoth Car tie for first place, speeding toward the shipyard. Spritle and Chim Chim incapacitate the Mammoth Car driver. Speed joins them, and they escape as the vehicle crashes into an oil tank, melting into molten gold.
