Conan identifies the culprit by interviewing a nearby convenience store owner. Richard is knocked out while Conan explains how the arsonist spiked Annette’s drink and used a fax to ignite the fire. Damon, the mystery club president, is revealed as the arsonist. Evidence includes a test fax smeared with cake cream. Damon confesses he committed the crime to save Annette and win her affection. Annette scolds him for his actions. Later, Annette explains that Jimmy rejected her because he likes a girl he has known since childhood, referring to Rachel.
