Hattori Heiji, a high-school detective from the west side of Japan, searches for Kudo Shinichi to test his skills. He offers an unknown drink, baijiu, to an ill Conan. Tsujimura Kimie, wife to diplomat Tsujimura Isao, hires Kogoro to investigate his son Tsujimura Takayoshi’s girlfriend, Katsuragi Yukiko. At Kimie’s estate, Isao is found dead in his locked study. Heiji and Conan determine he was killed by a needle dipped in neurotoxin. Conan’s cold worsens, leaving him bedridden. Heiji solves the locked room mystery, discovering the culprit used scotch tape and a string to lock the door and return keys. Evidence found in the trash confirms the method. With Conan incapacitated, Heiji proceeds to reveal Isao’s killer.
