The crew sends Kogoro to stop Shinroku after the director is stabbed with a dragon dagger. At the hotel, police ambush a culprit attempting an attack, identifying Yuuichi Kitamura. Conan tranquilizes Kogoro and reveals Kitamura caused Yayoi's parents' deaths via a lost button found by Shinroku. Shinroku identified Kitamura from an old photo two weeks ago. In Hiroshima, Kitamura drugged Shinroku, disguised him to create an alibi, and impersonated him to follow the crew. The real Shinroku confirms the deduction. Conan explains Kitamura also ran an illegal casino. Kitamura confesses to all crimes, lamenting his immoral solutions to losing control of the situations.
