Richard travels home on a 7:30 train and meets Sonia Shadowly at Tōto Bay Bridge, taking a pen from her car. They return two hours later to find Vicky Bowen stabbed in her condo. Conan deduces Richard missed his stop, arriving at 8:30, which breaks Sonia’s alibi. Richard confronts Sonia but knocks himself out, allowing Conan to impersonate him and reveal the truth. A mail courier signed for a package at 8:00, leaving a pen that Sonia later took, unaware the courier’s fingerprints were on it. Sonia confesses to the murder, explaining that Vicky was blackmailing her over a product forbidden for sale in Japan.
