Wei Wuxian and Jiang Cheng defend her honor, resulting in a brawl that prompts Jiang Fengmian to retrieve Wei Wuxian from Cloud Recesses. Upon returning to Yunmeng, Wei Wuxian reunites with his family, but his mother Yu Ziyuan resents him due to perceived favoritism. Tensions escalate when a marriage is canceled, and Yu Ziyuan blames Wei Wuxian despite Jiang Fengmian’s objections, causing marital strife. Wei Wuxian overhears the argument, blames himself, and apologizes to Jiang Yanli, who advises against forced love. One year later, Jiang Cheng returns from studies and informs his brother of an upcoming archery tournament in the Nightless City, the Wen Sect’s headquarters.
