Marika uses a borrowed dinghy to monitor events, prompting the paranoid committee chairwoman to pursue her after discovering her Hakuoh Academy ties. As racers enter the atmosphere amid a solar flare, a Bisque Company gunship attacks to locate Marika. She directs Chiaki to safety while distracting the attackers. The Bentenmaru arrives to pursue the gunship, with Ai utilizing wind patterns to disable it using only the main beam cannon. After her radar is destroyed by an EMP blast, Ai navigates using constellations. Criminals are arrested, Chiaki wins the championship, and Grunhilde finishes second.
