EP 1Marika Katou assumes command of the Bentenmaru after her father's death.
Jan 8, 2012While working at a cafe, Marika Katou is approached by individuals claiming to know her mother, Ririka. They later visit her home to inform her that her father, Gonzaemon, captain of the spaceship Bentenmaru, has died from food poisoning. A letter of marque requires Marika to take command for the vessel to operate legally. Confused, she researches the situation while the Bentenmaru’s helmsman and medic, Kane McDougal and Misa Grandwood, transfer to her school as a teacher and doctor. Mysterious transfer student Chiaki Kurihara also joins. At work, Marika observes suspicious men watching her. When Chiaki arrives, she reveals an impostor disguised as airport security attempting to abduct Marika. Chiaki initiates a gunfight in the cafe to stop the kidnapper and drags Marika to safety.
EP 2Marika Learns Gun Skills While Defending Odette II From Hackers
Jan 15, 2012Chiaki informs Marika that various organizations sent men to test her acceptance of the Bentenmaru captaincy. Ririka apologizes for concealing Gonzaemon’s connection to space pirates while teaching Marika to use firearms in a junkyard, explaining the authority of a pirate captain. The following day, Kane assumes the role of adviser for the space yacht club, guiding them to the docking station housing the Odette II. He instructs the group to inspect the vessel and activate its systems. Later, Marika and Chiaki are alone on the Odette II when they detect a nearby ship attempting to hack its network. Marika chooses to assist Chiaki in countering the intrusion, actively defending the ship against the cyberattack.
EP 3The Odette II departs port before summer vacation begins in the Tau Ceti system.
Jan 22, 2012Security systems force hackers to retreat despite tripping the dockside breaker. Chiaki informs Marika that monitoring organizations will leave her alone until her letter of marque renews. The space yacht club takes exams before summer vacation starts. Kane, Misa, and other students join Marika and Chiaki for a trip in the Odette II around the Tau Ceti system. When solar sails activate, the main mast jams with the upper yard. Unable to fix it automatically, Kane suits up Marika, Chiaki, and others to repair it manually. Marika determines the correct angle to free the mast. After all sails open, the group returns inside. Marika admires the view of her home planet from space.
EP 4The crew investigates a mysterious ghost ship following the Odette II near the Sand of the Red Star.
Jan 29, 2012Jenny Dolittle alerts Kane and Misa to three unidentified ships, including the Bentenmaru, trailing them. Marika and Chiaki determine one vessel is jamming the Odette II’s transponder to isolate the Sand of the Red Star. Marika uses high frequency radar to identify the intruder as the Alcyon, a battleship lost one hundred twenty years ago. The ship vanishes upon re-scanning, confirming its ghostly nature. Kane contacts the Bentenmaru to investigate while Marika and Chiaki eavesdrop from the bridge. Jenny, aware of Marika’s potential captaincy, watches the situation unfold. The club decides to fight back by maintaining their course around the Sand of the Red Star to draw out the enemy. They discover the ghost ship employs a drone to mask its transponder signal and evade radar detection.
EP 5Marika Decides to Command Bentenmaru After Outsmarting Lightning XI
Feb 5, 2012Marika devises a plan for the Odette II to bypass the Sand of the Red Star by entering the atmosphere. The crew allows a ghost ship to jam their radar and infect their operating system as a ruse. They identify the enemy as the Lightning XI. Lynn Lambretta hacks the enemy ship to disable its engines. When the Lightning XI targets the Odette II with beams, Marika prevents acceleration to avoid detection by infrared sensors. Instead, she uses solar sails to blind the enemy. The Bentenmaru and Barbaroosa arrive to destroy the Lightning XI. Upon returning home, Marika informs her mother that she has decided to become the captain of the Bentenmaru.
EP 6Marika begins her privateer duties after receiving her license and training on the Bentenmaru.
Feb 11, 2012Marika’s vacation with Mami Endou is interrupted when Misa takes her to obtain a government letter of marque. Upon receiving her privateer license, Marika unexpectedly assumes the role of captain aboard the Bentenmaru. The bridge crew instructs her on space pirate skills and battle expectations, with Chiaki later joining the training. Misa clarifies that space pirates function as military units since the War of Independence but cannot engage in piracy during peacetime. Instead, they earn income by entertaining guests on space cruises through simulated boarding and robbery. For her first raid, the Bentenmaru targets the cruise ship Princess Apricot. Marika announces her arrival and demands valuables, prompting Kane, who had infiltrated the ship as a guest, to challenge her to a duel. Marika wins by shooting Kane, who performs a dramatic fake death, leading the guests to surrender their accessories. Exhausted, Marika falls asleep after her successful raid. Meanwhile, Chiaki returns to the Barbaroosa without informing Marika that she is resuming her studies at her old school the following semester, despite having enjoyed her time with Marika.
EP 7Marika struggles with dual life while a stowaway breaches the Bentenmaru security.
Feb 18, 2012Marika faces difficulty balancing her roles as a student and space pirate, causing concern for Kane and Misa. Chiaki learns from Mami that Marika accepted an unscheduled job, noting her tendency to overexert herself to emulate Ririka. Meanwhile, Chiaki’s father shares important news, leading her to remain at the Sea of the Morning Star. On the Bentenmaru, the crew receives orders to stage a battle with the escort ships of the mega ship Symphony Angel to entertain its passengers. Misa urges Marika to treat the performance seriously despite its theatrical nature. Following several volleys, the Symphony Angel surrenders, allowing Marika to board and conduct the mock robbery. As Marika attempts to rest, Coorie reports that a stowaway has temporarily overridden the security system and infiltrated the ship. This intruder, identified as a child, refuses to communicate with anyone except the captain.
EP 8Gruier Serenity reveals her royal identity and seeks help finding a ghost ship.
Feb 25, 2012Stowaway Gruier Serenity, the seventh princess, discovers Marika commands the Bentenmaru and asks for assistance locating a golden ghost ship. Although Gruier claims her officials know her location, news reports label her missing, raising suspicions. To avoid kidnapping, she enrolls as a transfer student, leveraging her popularity for protection while Misa investigates the discrepancy. During an emergency mission with Gruier, the crew detects six royal defense ships entering their star system in battle mode. Five of these vessels are pursuing a damaged scout ship. Gruier suspects the scout carries the item she requested and that the other ships aim to intercept it. Consequently, the Bentenmaru prepares to confront the approaching royal fleet to resolve the situation.
EP 9Marika and Gruier coordinate a ceasefire and receive data on the golden ghost ship's location.
Mar 3, 2012Marika assists Gruier in ordering royal ships to stop hostilities as the Bentenmaru boards a damaged vessel. Marika encounters Chiaki at school, learning the Barbaroosa has been hired to find and destroy ships pursuing the ghost ship. Jenny arranges a space cruise on the Odette II to facilitate Marika and Gruier's return to the Bentenmaru without affecting their attendance. That night, Marika and Ririka meet the crew at a private restaurant. Hyakume explains the ghost ship is an early colony transport, and the device shows its galactic travel pattern. With this knowledge and awareness of the dangers, Marika commands the Bentenmaru to depart via FTL.
EP 10The Bentenmaru navigates a space storm to locate a ghost ship while Barbaroosa entertains guests.
Mar 10, 2012The Barbaroosa replaces the Bentenmaru to entertain guests on a cruise ship. Meanwhile, the Bentenmaru travels through a space storm overnight searching for a ghost ship. The next morning, Coorie hacks into buoy arrays sent by seventeen royal family search parties, discovering they were launched fifteen years ago, two years before Gruier was born. When a buoy detects the ghost ship, Marika orders the Bentenmaru to jump six light-years away into hyperspace to that location and prepare for battle. The ghost ship then jumps into subspace, leaving the Bentenmaru surrounded by the Serenity Fleet. The Bentenmaru launches decoys to confuse the fleet and executes a crippling hit and run on two royal escort ships. Although Gruier wants to contact the Serenity Fleet, Marika advises against it due to previous agreements with Chiaki and Jenny. The objective is to find the golden ghost ship before the Serenity Fleet arrives.
EP 11The Serenity Fleet Pursues the Golden Ghost Ship Near the Bentenmaru
Mar 17, 2012The Serenity Fleet utilizes a prism formation to track a ghost ship while the Bentenmaru navigates a spatial rift caused by the vessel. The golden ghost ship is revealed to be the Queen Serendipity itself. The Bentenmaru successfully docks after its computer scan identifies Gruier. The ship then prepares to enter subspace again, concluding the immediate confrontation between the fleet and the Bentenmaru crew.
EP 12Marika escorts Gruier to the Artificial Womb on a ghost ship amid royal conflict.
Mar 24, 2012Marika, Misa, Hyakume, and Schnitzer escort Gruier through a ghost ship to the Artificial Womb, the birthplace of the Serenity royal family. Gruier intends to destroy the facility, believing the monarchy’s era has ended and the kingdom should be ruled by its citizens. Grunhilde and her soldiers intervene, arguing the Womb must remain to produce a new heir and restore royal glory. As pirates and soldiers prepare for combat, Marika uses a smoke grenade to incapacitate both Gruier and Grunhilde. Upon waking, Gruier discovers the opposing factions have formed an alliance. The mission proves futile because the Womb is non-functional, as Gruier had already eliminated the last princess born there. Gruier and Grunhilde reconcile, and the golden ghost ship is returned to the Serenity Kingdom Star System while the Bentenmaru heads home.
EP 13Marika invites Gruier and Grunhilde to dinner after a successful recruitment day.
Mar 31, 2012Gruier calls Marika home to award her a medal, restoring her fame. She begins her second year of school, noting Gruier’s extended stay at the space yacht club alongside Grunhilde. Gruier visits Marika to express gratitude, returning an ID ring originally used by her father to board the Bentenmaru. Following a productive day recruiting new yacht club members, Marika invites Gruier and Grunhilde to her home for dinner. Meanwhile, the Bentenmaru accepts a job transporting illegal materials, which includes a group of experimental monkeys. Inspired by this, Marika decides to take her guests to the zoo.
EP 14Marika seeks temporary crew members to maintain Bentenmaru's active status during an isolation period.
Apr 7, 2012Marika takes a break from captaining duties while the crew suffers isolation from a monkey-borne disease. She contacts Show of the Harry Llyod Insurance Union, who predicts a month-long absence. To prevent Bentenmaru's pirating license from revocation due to inactivity, Marika decides to recruit a temporary crew. Gruier accompanies her to a relay station where they meet Chiaki and her father, Kenjo Kurihara, captain of the Barbaroosa. Kenjo advises that trust is the most critical quality in a crew member, surpassing skill or strength. Following this guidance, Marika successfully recruits the space yacht club to assist with her pirating responsibilities during the crisis.
EP 15Lynn hacks Odette II controls while Marika guides the yacht club through a critical FTL jump
Apr 14, 2012Lynn utilizes her hacking abilities to deceive space traffic control, setting the Odette II on autopilot so Marika and the space yacht club can depart for the Bentenmaru. The Bentenmaru crew secretly employs Show as an intermediary to create an instruction manual for the newcomers, fearing further errors. However, they omit details regarding FTL jumps, a critical oversight compounded by military scout ships approaching due to accidental cannon fire by a club member. Relying on her memory of previous jumps, Marika successfully guides the group through the FTL maneuver. While the club celebrates, Chiaki, Gruier, and Grunhilde recognize the crew's covert assistance but agree to conceal this fact to protect Marika’s pride.
EP 16The Hakuoh Pirates take on their first job while Lynn hides secrets.
Apr 21, 2012While the crew rests, Grunhilde observes Lynn secretly communicating with an unknown party. The following day, Marika and the space yacht club execute their initial pirate raid targeting the Princess Apricot. Since the vessel is a regular client of the Bentenmaru and the crew wears cosplay outfits crafted by Mami, the passengers initially grow suspicious but eventually accept the performance. That evening, Marika feels uneasy after Grunhilde notes Lynn’s distracted behavior and secret communications. Seeking the truth, the girls confront Lynn regarding her actions. Rather than explaining herself, Lynn proposes a new mission for the Bentenmaru: to capture Jenny, the former president of their space yacht club.
EP 17Jenny Escapes via Silent Whisper to Reach Space University with Marika's Help
Apr 28, 2012Lynn discloses that Jenny hired Marika to flee the Ultimate Fairy cruise liner, where her uncle Robert Dolittle plans to force a marriage to secure control of Hugh and Dolittle Interstellar Transportation. Utilizing the Silent Whisper military scout ship, Jenny docks at the Bentenmaru, revealing her romantic relationship with Lynn. Robert discovers the disappearance, prompting Marika to negotiate a deal ensuring his insurance company maintains ties with Jenny. Jenny hires Marika to escort her to Space University, a neutral zone, offering Show ten percent of her corporate profits to prevent him from yielding to Robert. Backed by their insurance interests, the Bentenmaru departs for Space University while evading the Dolittle space fleet.
EP 18The Bentenmaru Crew Expose Robert's Crimes and Jenny Enters University
May 5, 2012While the Bentenmaru pursues its target, Grunhilde attempts to stop Jenny’s wedding by confronting Junigh Coolph, aided by Lynn’s hacking skills. The crew gathers incriminating evidence against Robert and passes it to Marika through Show. Marika and the space yacht club board the Glorious Coolph, discovering Robert leading an anti-government rebellion. Chiaki intervenes to halt the uprising, while Jenny’s live broadcast reveals Robert’s crimes of selling military weapons to rebels. The case concludes as Robert’s actions are exposed. Kane advises the team, while revelations surface that their academy was suspended for five years after a pileup in the thirteenth championship race. Fearing a repeat, the committee requests the Bentenmaru for security. Meanwhile, organizations monitoring Marika learn the Bisque Company targets her. Kane hosts a windsurfing contest to select representatives, using the Bentenmaru to create a giant wave. Natalia Grennorth, Grunhilde, and Ai qualify to represent the club in the upcoming race.
EP 21The Nebula Cup Final Battle on Calmwind Planet
May 26, 2012The space yacht club reaches Calmwind for the competition, facing hostility due to a five year suspension. Lynn admits she altered coordinates during the thirteenth championship race. Marika uses a borrowed dinghy to monitor events, prompting the paranoid committee chairwoman to pursue her after discovering her Hakuoh Academy ties. As racers enter the atmosphere amid a solar flare, a Bisque Company gunship attacks to locate Marika. She directs Chiaki to safety while distracting the attackers. The Bentenmaru arrives to pursue the gunship, with Ai utilizing wind patterns to disable it using only the main beam cannon. After her radar is destroyed by an EMP blast, Ai navigates using constellations. Criminals are arrested, Chiaki wins the championship, and Grunhilde finishes second.

Meanwhile, the space yacht club organizes a final practice cruise for Lynn and the third years, who are graduating and passing the presidency to Marika. Show arranges for the Bentenmaru to escort the pirate ship Big Catch and its fleet. The pirates are subsequently attacked by the hunters, who easily destroy the fleet using superior weaponry and maneuverability. As Marika orders the Bentenmaru to flee, another mysterious ship appears.
EP 23Marika and crew seek legendary chef to unite pirates against Imperial threat

The Bentenmaru evacuates survivors from the Big Catch before it explodes. Chiaki tells Marika and Gruier that Kenjo wants to reunite the pirate council by calling all space pirates who fought in the War of Independence to oppose pirate hunters. The Grand Cross is one of four new prototype ships with gravity control technology for the Imperial fleet, suggesting Empire involvement with the Parabellum. To achieve this, they must find the legendary chef who served and united the pirates during the war and possesses the song to call them. Marika suspects Oyaji is the chef at a private restaurant, but he reveals he is the son of the legendary chef, whose older brother holds the title. He plays the rally song on old communication units to gather pirates at the Pirate's Nest. As the Bentenmaru travels, they are confronted by the Grand Cross.
