During a festival, Rin faces rude behavior from Renzo Kawakami at food stalls but recalls Makie’s advice against revenge and tolerates the insults. Meanwhile, Manji meets Araya Kawakami at a mask shop and lends him a sword. Araya paints a mask with his own blood to gift to a young boy, revealing his past with the Ittou-ryuu before avoiding conflict when Renzo arrives. Later, a man blames Renzo for breaking a sandal. Rin defends him and offers to repair it, mentioning the Asano dojo, which prompts the man to mock her family name and attempt inappropriate contact. Rin fixes the sandal and accepts Renzo’s invitation to his home for tea, leaving her sword behind. Araya thanks her for helping Renzo, and when asked about her background, Rin begins recounting the murder of her parents two years earlier.
