Ep. 8: Manji and Rin search for Anotsu in Fukagawa while Makie Otono-Tachibana defends herself from attackers.

Manji and Rin wander through Fukagawa seeking Anotsu. Manji meets Makie Otono-Tachibana, a prostitute who attacks him with a spear, but he defeats her easily and spares her. At an okiya, a man recognizes Makie from a previous brothel, though the owner states she is now a geisha. Rin feels jealous when Manji leaves with Makie and attempts to seduce him, but he laughs at her clumsy efforts, causing her to hit him with a sake bottle. Later, Makie tells Anotsu she desires an ordinary life as a samurai’s daughter, which she believes is impossible. Anotsu confesses his love, but she doubts his motives. After he departs, three swordsmen arrive to take her back to her former brothel, but she kills them all.
