Deidara believes his C4 Karura has killed Sasuke and lowers his guard. Sasuke immediately strikes Deidara with Chidori, revealing he was never harmed and that Deidara had been under a genjutsu all along. Deidara attempts to finish Sasuke but is deceived by his Sharingan. Both fighters collapse, and Sasuke deactivates his eye technique. Furious at the mockery, Deidara transforms into a living bomb and detonates himself in a final attempt to kill Sasuke. This event occurs during the Itachi Pursuit Mission arc.
