The Fifth Division under Mifune encounters reanimated Kimimaro and Chiyo in a forest. Chiyo controls a samurai, but Kankuro rescues him. This triggers Chiyo's guilt over Komushi, who died as a puppet. She attacks Kankuro, who summons Mother and Father puppets. Chiyo realizes she has not overcome her guilt. Kankuro explains Sasori entrusted these puppets to him. Chiyo sees memories of Sasori's past and admits his puppets are safe. She falls inert, causing Kankuro despair, but this is a ruse as she resumes her attack.
