Following Kakashi Hatake's defeat of Kakuzu, he and Naruto Uzumaki return to their village. At Asuma Sarutobi's grave, Shikamaru Nara promises Kurenai Yuhi that he will safeguard her unborn child. He later plays Shogi with Shikaku Nara, recounting Asuma's final words that Konoha must protect its next generation. Meanwhile, Tsunade examines Kakuzu's body and warns Kakashi that Naruto must never use the Rasen Shuriken again, as it would permanently destroy his chakra manipulation abilities. In a separate development, Orochimaru learns of Konoha's recent victory and dispatches Kabuto Yakushi to meet a woman named Guren.
