EP 1Koyomi navigates family dynamics and a mysterious encounter with Tsubasa Hanekawa during Golden Week.
Dec 31, 2012During the start of Golden Week, prior to Bakemonatari, Tsukihi wakes Koyomi, who then questions her about his romantic feelings for a new classmate. Tsukihi dismisses this as sexual frustration and recommends purchasing adult magazines. Following a short interaction with Karen, Koyomi departs on his bicycle and meets Tsubasa Hanekawa, who displays a prominent bandage on her left cheek. Tsubasa reveals that her foster father struck her face and pleads for secrecy, promising to fulfill any request in return for his silence. Instead of exploiting this offer, Koyomi simply asks to donate his blood to help heal her injury.

Dec 31, 2012Koyomi invades Tsubasa's residence and finds she lacks a personal room, prompting his return home where Tsukihi reports citywide attacks by a mysterious cat-girl he identifies as Tsubasa. After Tsubasa misses school, Koyomi consults Oshino, who reveals that challenging the Cursed Cat twenty times resulted in zero victories. Oshino explains that while such Oddities are typically weak, this one utilizes Tsubasa's exceptional intelligence to outmaneuver opponents. He warns that the entity must be halted before its conscience fully merges with hers, making rescue impossible. The next day, the cat requests non-interference, claiming it will restore Tsubasa's body after relieving her stress. Unable to stop her, Koyomi realizes his devotion exceeds love, declaring he is prepared to die for her.
EP 4Koyomi receives the demon sword Heartspan to defeat the Oddity possessing Tsubasa.
Dec 31, 2012After days of pleading, Shinobu gives Koyomi the demon sword Heartspan, which kills Oddities without harming hosts. Koyomi tricks Tsubasa into visiting Oshino by feigning a vampire attack, then criticizes her possession, causing her to attack him. She slices his body in half, revealing his plan to have her cut by the sword hidden within him. Tsubasa refuses to release the Cursed Cat, so Shinobu restores Koyomi and cures Tsubasa. The next day, Tsubasa returns to normal with no memory of the incident. Oshino suggests Koyomi marry her to provide a family, but he declines, stating he cannot love her despite caring for her. Later, Koyomi prepares to meet Hitagi for the first time, setting the stage for Bakemonogatari.
