Sariphi, Leonhart, and companions sail to Bolstobas, but Lante suffers from seasickness. A messenger beast delivers urgent news, prompting Leonhart to return to Ozmargo via Gwiber after securing Sariphi’s ring. Fenrir, the Wolf King, and his subordinate Nir attack the vessel, killing the guards. Fenrir harbors a grudge against Leonhart and vows to conquer Ozmargo. Sariphi offers herself as a hostage to save the group. Nir, having observed events in Maasya, confirms to a skeptical Fenrir that she is the queen. Lante attempts to fight but is severely injured by Nir’s telekinetic sword control and his own illness. Bennu heals the survivors as Sariphi is captured. Fenrir’s forces invade Ozmargo, causing public panic. Anubis persuades Leonhart to remain and calm the populace, honoring Sariphi’s wish not to be rescued. Leonhart promises to protect the people and defeat Fenrir to save her.
