Assassins targeting Bennu die after claiming instinctive firing, while a man named Ilya attacks guards demanding Leonhart. Imprisoned, he vows revenge for Sariphi’s death until discovering she lives. She reveals Ilya is her childhood friend who blames beasts for his village’s destruction. Leonhart releases him, but Ilya faints from hunger. Upon receiving food from Sariphi and Amit, he insults Amit and demands Sariphi leave with him. When she refuses due to her marriage to Leonhart, Ilya knocks her unconscious and abducts her. Anubis falsely claims Sariphi left willingly, but Amit reminds Leonhart of her efforts. Leonhart entrusts Jormungand with duties and pursues the pair using Gwiber.
