Molly and James send Sara shopping, yet Molly criticizes her for cleaning student rooms. While rushing to class, Lottie misplaces a book, angering Lavinia. The angry Headmistress arrives and orders Sara to stay away from the students. Lottie becomes increasingly confused due to Jessie and Gertrude, eventually destroying her artwork and suffering a nightmare. Cesar leads Lottie to the attic, where her panic prompts Sara to rescue her. They spend the night feeding rats and birds, enjoying a beautiful view of the city at dawn.
