Kenshin, Sanosuke, and Saito travel to the Shrine of the Six Arches on Mount Hiei to confront Shishio. At the shrine, the first of the Ten Swords to challenge them is Anji, known as the Destroyer, who once instructed Sanosuke in the fundamentals of the Futae no Kiwami technique. The two engage in a duel where Sanosuke unleashes the Futae no Kiwami at maximum output, utilizing the Kiwami Hazuchi attack to strike Anji down. Sanosuke initially believes his opponent has been killed, but Anji rises again, appearing more enraged than before.
