Sakurai tolerates Aoi’s behavior regarding the prophetess, allowing her to remain with the group. Yukina reluctantly shares Isao’s vision, describing it as hell. During a mission at the Dalian port to uncover Chinese weapons smuggling from Germany, Kazura is ambushed by Westerners. Isao rescues him and reveals a secret base run by Ichinose developing nuclear weapons. Isao shares his ideals, influenced by the First World War’s end and the Treaty of Versailles signed in June 1919. Back at the port, Aoi and Natsume prepare a trap for Isao. Remembering a speech by Kanji Ishiwara from military school, a conflicted Kazura chooses to save Isao and teleports away. This action leaves Aoi, Yukina, and Natsume shocked by his decision.
