Ep. 21: The Fire that Destroys the World
Saki and Niimi travel to the Temple of Purity while Kaburagi declares war on Monster Rats. An Ogre attacks, killing Kaburagi despite Satoru’s warning that she cannot be slain. Saki recognizes the creature’s resemblance to Maria as they flee. A Monster Rat claims the Ogre is their heavenly Messiah before being killed. Niimi departs for Town Hall, leaving Saki and Satoru to reach the temple. There, they learn Saki’s parents plan to release Impure Cats against the Ogre. Inui joins them, recounting his group’s failure against Robber Flies and the burning hospital where human infants were stolen. Saki realizes Yakomaru killed Maria and Mamoru, raised their child as an Ogre, and intends to create an Ogre army from the stolen infants to establish a Monster Rat empire.
