Ep. 8: Fairlock's death leads to Ridget's succession and the Gargantia fleet's impending separation.

Fairlock dies without resistance, naming Ridget his successor. Chamber reveals their civilization's location is too distant, meaning distress signals may take thousands of years to reach anyone. During Fairlock's funeral, dissident ships prepare to detach from the Gargantia following Pinion's plan. Melty chooses to depart with them. Saaya asks Amy if she will leave with Ledo, but Amy refuses, stating she cannot abandon her brother. Bevel attempts to dissuade Ledo from leaving, noting Amy's distress. Ledo explains his motivation to destroy the Hideauze stems from a desire to protect both Amy and Bevel. Ridget avoids the funeral to find a way to keep the fleet together, but Bellows reminds her she has the fleet's support. Ridget bids farewell to Fairlock's body as it is sent to the waters and asks the Gargantia members for their backing. Amy watches in devastation as the dissident ships, including Ledo, depart.
