Apr 6, 2002Ichigo Momomiya undergoes a mysterious transformation while on a date with Masaya Aoyama, leading to cat-like behavior. Later, a jellyfish-like creature possesses a rat in a park, creating a monster. Ryou Shirogane rescues Ichigo and provides a pendant that allows her to transform into Mew Ichigo. She uses these new abilities to defeat the creature, reverting it to a normal rat. Because Ryou declines to explain the events, Keiichiro Akasaka steps in to provide the necessary information to Ichigo.

Apr 13, 2002Ryou and Keiichirou explain to Ichigo that the creature she encountered was a parasitic alien known as a chimera anima. To combat these threats, the Mew Project genetically modified five girls using endangered species DNA, allowing them to transform into Mew Mews. Ichigo starts working at Cafe Mew Mew while searching for the other four girls marked by the Mew symbols. Keiichirou provides her with a robot named Masha to assist with her duties. On her way home, Ichigo meets Minto Aizawa and her dog. She later visits Minto's house to return a handkerchief, but the dog becomes infected by a chimera anima.
