Ep. 5: Akagi Substitutes for Nangou and Uses Zetsu Ichimon Strategy Against Ichikawa
Aired on November 2, 2005

Nangou replaces the late Akagi in a match against Ichikawa, winning the first two rounds with a simple strategy before Ichikawa adapts. Akagi arrives when Nangou faces a losing discard, taking his place and cheating to stabilize the game. Akagi then provokes Ichikawa by discarding pin suits, creating a Zetsu Ichimon situation that requires waiting for sou or character tiles. Although the match remains balanced, Nangou and Ichikawa observe that Ichikawa is accumulating more points through Akagi’s cheaper hand wins. This trend threatens Akagi’s position, as continued play would likely result in his defeat due to the disparity in point accumulation despite similar round victories.
