With Akagi holding 6,800 points and Ichikawa at 8,100, Ichikawa attempts to manipulate the game by dealing into a player on his side. This strategy reduces Ichikawa to 4,600 points while Akagi drops to 4,500, then 1,300 after Ichikawa cheats in the next round to win. Akagi appears to ignore this cheating. Following a break, Ichikawa tries to switch Akagi's drawn tile but is stopped. He then changes the dora indicator tile, a move Akagi actually induced. When Akagi wins, he demands to double the bet, but yakuza leader Kurosawa declares Ichikawa no match for him. Observer Nangou sees Akagi's "pure" eyes and stops gambling. Five years later, Akagi has disappeared and become a legend.
