Rosa finds Eva, who departs to negotiate Kinzo's gold division, but a younger Eva refuses to share it and claims leadership of the Ushiromiya family. Beatrice acknowledges this by naming her the new Beatrice, a move Battler interprets as an alter ego. Later, Eva becomes ill, prompting Rosa to take Maria outside to avoid her tantrums. They are ambushed by Eva Beatrice, who repeatedly kills and resurrects them in gruesome fashions. Beatrice enjoys the violence, angering Battler, who refuses to engage further. Saddened, Beatrice confronts Eva Beatrice, mercifully killing Rosa and Maria, and instructs her successor to behave with greater dignity and reason in the future.
