In 1984, Shannon confesses her love for George to Jessica, but Eva reveals an arranged marriage will separate them. Desperate, Shannon prays to Beatrice, who offers George's affection in exchange for destroying a mirror at the island shrine that restricts her power. Although Shannon initially refuses, she breaks the mirror in 1985. By 1986, Jessica admits a crush on Kanon and persuades him to attend her school festival. Kanon sees a new side of Jessica but rejects any romantic involvement. He later confronts Beatrice, accusing her of manipulating their emotions. Beatrice laughs, asserting that her power will return regardless of the outcome and that the path to the Golden Land will open.
