Under interrogation regarding the killings, Maria identifies Beatrice as the murderer, a claim Battler rejects. Natsuhi locks the group in a room to force Beatrice's appearance, but upon exiting, they find Natsuhi dead from a gunshot wound. Golden butterflies appear, and the survivors perish. The scene shifts to a white tea room where the group jokes about solving the epitaph instead of hunting the killer. All but Battler believe a witch is responsible. Battler argues for human agency, prompting Beatrice to challenge him to disprove magic. Subsequently, Beatrice consults with the rival witch Bernkastel, who intends to aid Battler with her own powers.
