Ataru learns he must win a ten-day game of tag against an alien champion to prevent an invasion of Earth. He initially refuses to participate but agrees after seeing that the opponent is the beautiful Lum. Meanwhile, Lum's Stormtroopers attempt to summon her UFO but accidentally hail an intergalactic taxi. This vehicle transports them through subspace, incurring a fare equivalent to the total value of all oil on the planet. The situation escalates as the group deals with the unexpected transportation costs and the looming threat of the alien conflict.
