Lum's former fiancé Rei arrives on Earth to propose, but she rejects him due to his gluttony. When angered, he transforms into a large beast. Jealous and rejected, Rei pursues Lum and Ataru through a local park, creating significant disruption for couples and vendors. At school, Rei seeks both Lum and food, captivating the female students and causing distress for Shutarou. Ran, who has feelings for Rei, competes with Lum and Cherry for his attention. Rei also charms Mrs. Moroboshi upon Lum and Ataru's return. Meanwhile, Ataru's parents and Lum's mother begin preparations for the upcoming parent's day event at the school.
