Mahad and Seto struggle against Diabound as Bakura strengthens it while Shada faces Aknadin
Jun 23, 2004Mahad and Mana attack Diabound, but the beast absorbs Kul Elna spirits to grow stronger. Seto and priests arrive but cannot breach its shield. Bakura uses the Millennium Scale to fuse Illushu with Diabound. Shada finds the stone tablet to destroy it, but Aknadin attacks him, takes the Millennium Key, and drags Shada into the tablet. Diabound overwhelms the Pharaoh and Guardians. The Pharaoh offers himself to the angry spirits, but King Aknamkanon arrives, intercepts them, and traps the souls within himself. This releases Shada and leads the spirits to the Shadow Realm, trapping Aknamkanon there. Enraged by the spirits' departure, Bakura watches as Mahad defeats Diabound with the Pharaoh's help. Shada observes the tablet shattering into pieces.

Aknadin betrays the other priests with a time-freezing spell, seizing the Millennium Items to resurrect Zorc Necrophades, the Dark One and Lord of Terror Evil and Darkness. Zorc transforms Aknadin into the Lord of Darkness, the Great Shadow Magus, doubling his power. Yami Bakura reveals the Shadow Game is a board game where present-day versions of Yami Bakura and the Pharaoh play, with their actions dictating events in the Memory World through their game pieces.

Yami Bakura extracts Kaiba's soul to aid in resurrecting the Thief King, subsequently reclaiming control over him. Concurrently, Bobasa leads Yugi and his companions to the Valley of the Kings, where the Pharaoh's true name is hidden within his future tomb. After ensuring they reach this destination, Bobasa departs, having completed his assigned duty.

To allow Zorc Necrophades time for full rebirth, Aknadin isolates the Pharaoh and his priests, attacking them with monster armies. Karim sacrifices himself to transfer his remaining power to Shada. Meanwhile, the Pharaoh returns to the palace to locate Priest Seto.

The Pharaoh summons Mahad, appearing as the Dark Magician, to fight the Blue-Eyes White Dragon controlled by Priest Seto. Although the Pharaoh is overpowered, Kisara's spirit enters Seto's mind and destroys Aknadin, sending his soul to the Shadow Realm. Meanwhile, the time on Yami Bakura's third hourglass expires, causing Zorc Necrophades to begin reviving. Yami Bakura takes full control of Tristan's body, blocking the only exit of the Pharaoh's tomb. He tells Yugi he will never leave alive and challenges him to a duel.

Using Horakhty's Shining Light, the Pharaoh destroys Zorc permanently. He then entrusts the Millennium Items to the revived Priest Seto, appointing him the next Pharaoh of Egypt. With his past duty fulfilled, Atem's body dissolves as Seto vows to rule justly, and Atem departs the Memory World with his friends.
