Mouryou no Hako

From August to October 1952, a string of strange incidents occurs in Musashino and Mitaka, beginning with the attempted murder of 14-year-old Kanako Yuzuki and her subsequent disappearance from a research facility. Other girls are later abducted, and their dismembered bodies are found in specially made boxes scattered across nearby towns. Morihiko Toriguchi, a news editor, and Tatsumi Sekiguchi, a crime writer, team up with Akihiko Chūzenji, an onmyōji, to look into the events. Meanwhile, Tokyo detective Shutaro Kiba pursues Kanako despite the case falling under Kanagawa police. Kanako's grandfather's estate lawyer also hires private investigator Reijiro Enokizu to locate her. As they dig deeper, they uncover unsettling facts and hidden family secrets.
