Meiko invites Miwa, Yuu, and Miki to her award acceptance ceremony, but rushes out when a well-wish from "Namura-san in Hiroshima" is read. She resolves to visit Hiroshima and confront him about her feelings again.

The student is a first year from New York named Michael Grant, and he is truly strange. He could probably be best described as a cross between a friendly puppy and a massive weeaboo. Miki and Yuu had decided to keep their relationship a secret from Michael, so he flirts shamelessly with Miki. While he drags Miki around town, Suzu's father asks Yuu to again consider studying abroad, coincidentally at the school Michael is from. Yuu is still hesitant to accept, because he knows Miki would be against him going away.

At the end of the day, Michael apologizes for monopolizing Miki's time, accidentally letting Yuu's plans slip!
EP 52Moonlight Decision "Yuu, Don't Leave Me Alone!"
Mar 19, 1995Miki yells at Yuu for deciding to go abroad without consulting her. Yuu agrees that it will be hard, but his feelings for her won't change while he's away. Unfortunately, Miki is too insecure to believe him, and interprets his decision to pursue his future career as a personal attack. The next day at school is the third year graduation, and Miki and Yuu still aren't talking to each other. Miwa, in need of a last minute prom date, asks Miki, thinking this will prank Yuu. Miki's moms have fun dressing her up, and she has a nice time dancing with Miwa. He talks to her about Meiko and Namura, and how he lost Meiko because Namura was much more considerate about her future than he was. As the school's basketball ace, Brian thought he would annihilate Yuu, but... Meanwhile, Miki fails to call Yuu, when suddenly Kei reappears with a confident declaration!
EP 56Misunderstandings "My Boyfriend is Yuu"
Abr 16, 1995Miki is tired of all these boys confessing to her. She tries multiple times a day to call Yuu, to no avail. (Either 90's international calls in Japan were incredibly affordable, or she's costing her parents a fortune...) Michael and Kei discover each other, and begin to fight in earnest over Miki while Miki walks away. Ryouko sees Miki trying to call Yuu from the school phones and her desperate cheerfulness at tennis practice, and offers her a job. Kei plays a piece he composed for the piano competition, which Miki recognizes as the piece he dedicated to her last Christmas. Akira manages to ask Ryouko out on a date, but she still isn't over Namura. Miki gets a call from Yuu, but Brian takes over to talk to his brother and gives him some shocking news.
EP 59An Anxious Weekend "I Want to Hear Yuu's Voice"

Bill, in his rush to leave on the trip, forgot to loan some notes to Jinny for a looming project, so she breaks into his and Yuu's room. Miki rushes to the campus, only to run into Jinny leaving Yuu's room! Jinny pretends that Yuu is still there, sleeping after having sex with her, his hot American girlfriend. Miki is, of course, gullible enough to believe her and runs off.

May 28, 1995Miki wants to go back home as soon as possible. Meiko tries throughout the night to call Yuu, but only gets the answering machine.
