Superintendent Saeko Nogami struggles with loneliness and, after a night of drinking, is followed home by a small girl offering a flower. Saeko initially suspects a zashiki-warashi due to recent unseen assistance in her life. Xiang Ying investigates and discovers the girl is real, collecting offerings from local businesses that have since improved. After Saeko purchases a book for the child, who reads it to soothe Saeko’s solitude, the girl introduces herself as Miki. Saeko falls asleep and dreams that she, Ryo, Xiang Ying, and Miki form a family unit.
