Inspired, Katarina travels to Murano Island to see Gimo, who expresses affection while acknowledging their familial bond cannot be romantic. Upon returning to Venice, Malta attempts to dismiss Arte, but Katarina successfully uses proper etiquette to retain him. Sofia supports this decision, leading to a heartfelt reconciliation and a genuine hug between mother and daughter.
