Arte informs her friends about her upcoming trip to Venice. Leo warns her that long-term employment is difficult, stating he will understand if she chooses to stay there rather than return to his workshop. He gifts her a portable altarpiece he painted years ago. After Arte departs, Leo notices the silence in his workshop. During the voyage, Arte struggles with seasickness and fears Leo is relieved to see her go. She nearly falls overboard but is rescued by Yuri. Arte shares her anxieties, and Yuri explains that Leo wants her to seize unique opportunities available because of her noble status. Reassured, Arte focuses on her new role. Upon arriving in Venice, she receives new clothing and lodging at the home of Yuri's sister-in-law, Sofia, and niece, Katarina. Katarina appears polite around the adults but reveals herself as a rude and entitled brat when alone with Arte.
