Kaorin uses flower petals to predict her class placement with Sakaki, eventually discovering they are together, while Kagura also joins that class despite Sakaki not recognizing her. Yukari focuses on memorizing sophomore names, and a conflict arises between Kagura and school mascot Tomo. Kagura invites Sakaki to join the swimming team, though the latter has declined other clubs. Chiyo and Sakaki deal with excessive attention from freshmen. Tomo tricks Kimura into an early lunch break. Afterward, Yukari introduces a kitten, prompting Chiyo to suggest a class pet rotation. The girls hold the cat, but it escapes when Sakaki hesitates to take it home.
