Sakaki is moved by a film about a stray cat and inspired by Kaorin’s kitten photos, though her attempt to photograph a cat fails. She assists Chiyo, who struggles in a cat costume, and learns Chiyo’s birthday is near. While Chiyo wishes to be taller and Sakaki prefers being shorter, Yomi plans a party. Sakaki seeks a gift but faces distractions, eventually securing two plush cats from a crane game after three attempts. At the party, Tomo gives a magic wand and Yomi a book, while Sakaki presents one plush cat. Osaka gifts another plush cat identified as Chiyo-Father. The group later argues over whether the Yomiuri Giants or Hanshin Tigers will win the baseball season before enjoying a sunset stroll with Mr. Tadakichi.
