During a concert, Hakko activates her Borner ability, causing severe headaches and forcing Canaan and Maria to escape. Hakko experiences nightmares about her initial infection. Minoru questions Santana, Hakko’s guardian, regarding the Borners and the virus. The group travels by SUV to the Chinese desert. Canaan and Maria discuss their bond, acknowledging how their friendship helps them cope with Canaan’s synesthesia and the dangers they face. Hakko attempts to strangle Canaan during sleep, blaming her. The group subsequently meets Yunyun, who is riding a bicycle.
