Archibald identifies a witness linking Neil to the crime, prompting the trio to force a confession. Meanwhile, Candy escapes in a rowboat, navigating dangerous rapids toward a waterfall. The vagabond Albert rescues her from drowning and instructs her to send a bottle note if she needs help. The worried Ardley boys eventually locate Candy. Anthony reveals his true motive for avoiding her was to spare her the surprise of his birthday gift, a new rose variety named 'Sweet Candy'.
