Ep. 16: Candy prepares for departure to Mexico while Anthony defends her honor against family prejudice.

Before traveling to Mexico, Candy observes Anthony reject his great-aunt’s order to shun her, which comforts her despite her fear of causing him family trouble. She plans to write daily, but hears servants discussing Mexican conditions, causing her anxiety to rise. Anthony gives her Sweet Candy roses and a note promising to prevent her removal from Lakewood. Suspecting Neil’s involvement, the young men force him to confess, and he vows to clear Candy’s name before her aunt the next day. However, Mr. Garcia arrives early and takes Candy away immediately. Unable to rescue her, Anthony leads Alistear and Archibald in a bagpipe farewell, swearing to join her in Mexico and asking her to wait for him across the distance.
