Ep. 14: Candy and the Orphans Fight to Save Father Tree from Mr. Flannigan
Aired on January 7, 1977Filler

Mr. Leagan returns to find Candy demoted and arranges a stay at Pony's Home. There, Candy discovers neighbor Mr. Cartwright sold Father Tree to eccentric Mr. Flannigan from Washington, who believes the tree yields business ideas. Candy organizes orphans and animals to resist the workers preparing to cut the tree. After a climbing match ends in a stalemate, Candy argues for the tree's preservation. Mr. Flannigan instead decides to buy Pony's Home to build his own residence. Candy attempts to fake the tree's death by painting leaves yellow, but rain washes the paint away. Enraged, Mr. Flannigan orders the workers to proceed, but a lone orphan cries out from the treetop, halting the destruction.
