Upon arriving in Florida, Candy discovers her visit will be prolonged due to Dr. Kreis and his daughter Karen. Karen is furious that Susanna secured the role of Juliet, believing she is superior and that Susanna manipulated the casting. While Candy listens, Karen decides to keep her in Florida but attacks her insecurities, claiming Candy has already lost to Susanna because Romeo and Juliet actors often marry. During rehearsals, falling lights cause Susanna to save Terry, resulting in the amputation of her leg. The following day, Dr. Kreis informs Candy she must return to Dr. Leonard, as Karen is leaving for New York to replace Susanna. Candy is finally free to depart.
