Chrono enters a FIVA event to battle Kagero clan leader Mamoru Anjou. He is approached by a person in a Vangua-rou costume seeking a duel with his Gear Chronicle deck. Mamoru arrives looking for branch manager Ryutarou Oyama, correctly identifying the mascot as him. Ryutarou flees with Chrono, prompting Mamoru to issue a quest for fighters to catch Vangua-rou. The pair hides in a secret room where Ryutarou reveals his true form. They duel in a GIRS-equipped room, but Mamoru interrupts after defeating Tsuneto. Mamoru reprimands Ryutarou, then meets Chrono. Although Mamoru requests a fight, Chrono declines, preferring to grow stronger first.
