Oct 26, 2014Three years after the Legion Mate arc, Chrono Shindou, an apathetic teenager, finds a Vanguard deck and map in his locker. He visits Card Capital 2, where he witnesses a match between Mamoru Anjou and part-timer Kamui Katsuragi. Kamui recognizes Chrono’s Gear Chronicle clan as unprecedented and challenges him to a game. During the battle, Kamui explains the rules and lore of Vanguard. Cornered, Chrono hears a voice revealing Generation Stride, an ability to stride from the Generation Zone representing an alternate future. This power allows him to defeat Kamui. Moved by the experience, Chrono runs off to pursue this alternate future, passing by a certain someone.
EP 2Chrono and Kamui Complete a Quest to Retrieve a Stolen Card
Nov 2, 2014Chrono visits Card Capital 2, where he discusses his Gear Chronicle deck with Kamui Katsuragi and meets Shin Nitta. Kamui provides Chrono with a Fighter's Card, known as Fica, and explains the Federation of International Vanguard Association (FIVA), an organization that supports fighters through its Vanguard Network for quests and grading. Accompanied by Kamui, Chrono and Team Trinity Dragon accept a quest from a boy to find his lost card. They discover a crow stole it and chase it down. Tsuneto Tado, leader of Team Trinity Dragon, and Chrono both grab the card but refuse to yield. Kamui proposes a cardfight to settle the dispute. After Tsuneto teases Chrono about his name, Chrono wins, returns the card, and completes the quest to gain points and raise his grade. Finally, Chrono and Kamui return to Card Capital 2, where Chrono meets Misaki Tokura, the new owner of the store line.

Nov 9, 2014Chrono accepts a challenge from Kouji Ibuki at the Vanguard Colosseum to test a new deck. Inside a room equipped with the Grand Image Reality System, the two engage in a cardfight where Chrono initially gains the upper hand. Kouji then shifts to a sinister demeanor, mocking Chrono and exposing his weaknesses. In a desperate attempt to turn the tide, Chrono summons Stride Interdimensional Dragon, Mystery-flare Dragon. The creature begins manifesting in the real world, visible only to children, but vanishes before fully emerging. Simultaneously, the GIRS system shuts down, halting the match. Kouji departs without revealing his identity, leaving Chrono feeling frustrated and defeated by the unresolved encounter.

The pair hides in a secret room where Ryutarou reveals his true form. They duel in a GIRS-equipped room, but Mamoru interrupts after defeating Tsuneto. Mamoru reprimands Ryutarou, then meets Chrono. Although Mamoru requests a fight, Chrono declines, preferring to grow stronger first.

They recall burying a time capsule in a park containing secret gifts for each other. Tokoha discovers that Chrono retrieved the capsule during park construction at Akane’s request. Distraught by news that Akane is leaving Japan for an overseas post the following day, Tokoha decides to challenge her to a cardfight at the airport as a farewell. During the match, Akane reassures Tokoha that her departure marks a new beginning. After Tokoha wins, Akane presents her with a gold medal from the capsule. As Akane departs on the plane, she opens Tokoha’s gift: a special card drawing of herself created by young Tokoha.
EP 10Jaime Alcaraz seeks Vanguard gameplay but prioritizes cultural sightseeing and helping children bond through cardfighting.

The trio investigates and finds the girl, Hinako, at her school. Although Shion and Tokoha urge Ogawa to deliver the card personally, his fear prevents him from doing so. Chrono proposes a game where Ogawa draws one of four cards; if he picks Nociel, he returns it. Ogawa succeeds, earning equal points for the team. Later, Shion and Tokoha suspect Chrono rigged the draw, but he denies any manipulation.
EP 19The Power of Bonds! X-tiger
Mar 8, 2015Kamui provides Chrono and Tokoha with a DVD featuring Team Caesar, a group piloting giant robots to defend Earth from alien monsters. The film depicts Kenji, Yuri, and Gai battling an enemy named Zeal, which shrinks and briefly hijacks Yuri’s mech, causing friction between the pilots. Zeal evolves and attacks, prompting the team to combine their robots into Great Daikaiser. Disagreements over tactics lead to a failed strike, allowing Zeal to escape and Gai to quit. After realizing Zeal caused the earlier conflict, the remaining members face it alone until Gai returns. United, they pursue Zeal into space, where they are overwhelmed by a legion of enemies.
