Ep. 21: Hotohori Saves Miaka From Suicide Amidst Tamahome's Return
Hotohori discovers Tamahome’s actions while controlled by Kodoku. Miaka remains depressed, fearing Tamahome will not return to Konan, and suffers from lingering emotional pain since Mitsukake only healed her physical wounds. Tamahome is haunted by visions of Miaka and a ribbon she left, driving him to resolve to kill her. Chiriko attempts to comfort Miaka with music, and Hotohori, Nuriko, and Chichiri visit, but she isolates herself. Miaka finds Tamahome’s empty room and leaves a note saying "Sayonara" before attempting suicide at a raging river. Hotohori saves her and confesses his feelings, kissing her. After resting, Miaka accepts him. Their moment is interrupted by news of Tamahome’s arrival. Hotohori locks Miaka in an unused room and proceeds to the courtyard to face Tamahome in battle.
